Diary Entries
In class we focused a bit
more on developing our understandings of our characters. We did this by
imagining things that may have happened in their lives/has already happened and
we made those things become our characters reality. I did two short diary
entries to enable me to picture their life easier. And as I have a creative
imagination, I found the task quite exiting and very interesting.
He kissed me today. His
soft almost gooey lips grazed mine and then we did it again. I mean this time tongues
were introduced and it was gross but I was okay with it because it was Callum’s
idea and so I knew it would be alright, don’t ask me how I knew because I
wouldn't know the answer…just trust me when I say, I know.
The second entry was
written by Sephy on November 16th, it has been just over three
months since Sephy started Chivers Boarding School and over four weeks since
she has seen Callum and she is writes this entry in a room all by
herself, and is extremely homesick, she misses Callum, Minnie, and even her
Mother along with the sweet scent of wine that followed her.
He’s here, he is actually
here…
…or is he…
I mean, I’ve imagined him
here before…
I have imagined his
touch…I’ve felt his lips against mine and heard him whisper sweet and gentle
words. But these days…it’s hard to tell what’s the difference between reality
and my vivid imagination…But either way…He.Is.Here…standing in front of me…with
his arms outstretched…his eyes wide and welcoming …and before I know it I’m in
his arms…and I’m crying….and…and…and…he’s gone…He.Is.Gone…and once again it’s
just me…in a room….all by myself….alone.
This also shows how she
as a character develops in the play, getting older and more mature, her mindset
and voice changing slightly from the start to the finish. In the first entry she is very happy and extremely naïve however in the second diary entry she is more grown up and not as happy, she
knows all about how different people are treated and is disappointed in the
world.
This task built my
relationship with my character up as an actor and helped me to imaging her
background story as well as how she felt/what she was doing at moments in her
life that were not mentioned. I can now have a more intimate relationship with
my character and understand her more. So hopefully now, I can give our intimacy
to the audience and create an the ultimate intimate relationship with the audience (however not
literally because the scene is mainly performed using a forth wall).
